Giant Outdoor TV

The giant TV outside of Jernigan is equal parts entertaining and disruptive.

Function

Most of the time it displays campus advertising without audio, thank God, like available classes, study abroad opportunities, upcoming etc.

It also plays sports games: Football & Basketball. I don't know their criteria for which games they play, if it's anything like the music in the caf, then one guy probably controls it and plays them whenever he wants to.

History

It has been used for movie nights in the past, but not often. I fondly remember watching the Barbie movie with friends at the watch party/discussion the school set up.

It has also played music in the past, alongside the usual advertisements. I distinctly remember after a restless night unable to fall asleep, I ventured out of Benson at four in the mourning. As I crept up to Jernigan my feeling of unease grew as I saw the ghoulish blue glow of the TV lighting up the whole street. Not only that but the most generic music I've ever heard in my life, stuff like "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and "Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night" blaring out of the screen at volumes that conerned me.
